He earned his MD (1992), postgraduate degree in Endocrinology (1998), and PhD in Endocrine and Metabolic Sciences (2003) from the University of Naples. His research centers on thyroid disease physiopathology, thyroid autoimmunity, chemokines in autoimmune endocrine disorders, endocrine disruptors, and thyroid cancer. He is a member of the European Thyroid Association (ETA) and Italian Society of Endocrinology.
