Andrea Cossarizza is Full Professor of Pathology and Immunology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where he serves as Director of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility and Vice-Rector for Research. He is internationally renowned for his research on immunosenescence — the decline of immune function with aging — and for innovative applications of flow cytometry to study cellular mechanisms of disease and immune aging. He is Past-President of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry (ISAC) and lead author of three editions of the widely cited Guidelines for the use of flow cytometry and cell sorting in immunological studies. He has published more than 460 full papers in peer-reviewed journals.
