Paolo Fiorina is Associate Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Milan and Chief of Endocrinology at Fatebenefratelli-Sacco-Melloni Hospitals. He earned his MD from the University of Milan and PhD in Immunology from the University of Parma, and spent six years studying islet transplantation immunology at San Raffaele Scientific Institute before joining Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 2004 as a research fellow, becoming Assistant Professor of Nephrology in 2009. His research focuses on autoimmune diabetes, beta cell replacement through islet transplantation, diabetic nephropathy, and GLP-1 receptor agonist immunology. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed manuscripts with more than 18,460 citations and an h-index of 44.
