Fabio Sallustio is an Associate Professor at the Department of Precision and Regenerative Medicine and Ionian Area, University of Bari Aldo Moro. His scientific activity focuses on the functional characterization of adult renal stem cells and the molecular mechanisms underlying kidney diseases, with particular reference to IgA Nephropathy and renal transplantation. His research has expanded to study metabolites produced by gut commensal microbes and their influence on brain function through the gut-brain axis. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on the intersection of metabolism, kidney biology, aging, and longevity pathways, including studies on mTOR, IGF-1, Sirtuins, and Klotho signaling.
