Nicola Scichilone is Full Professor of Respiratory Diseases at the University of Palermo and Director of the Pneumology Unit at Giaccone University Hospital, Palermo. Since 2013 he has held an adjunct professorship at the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. He has authored more than 340 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals and edited chapters in leading respiratory medicine textbooks. He served as President of the Italian Society of Respiratory Medicine in Geriatric Age, and has been elected President-elect of the Italian Society of Pneumology (SIP), set to assume office in 2027. His research focuses on lung function, respiratory aging, and geriatric pulmonology.
