Chiara Macchi is a Research Fellow at the Department of Pharmacological and Biomolecular Sciences, University of Milan, where she investigates the intersection of mitochondrial function, cardiovascular disease, and aging. Her research focuses on the role of dysfunctional mitochondria in age-related vascular diseases and metabolic conditions, including studies on how pharmacological interventions such as statins can ameliorate senescence-induced mitochondrial dysfunction in vascular smooth muscle cells. She has contributed to research on circulating PCSK9, obesity, adipose tissue biology, and the effects of environmental pollutants on metabolic health. She has authored more than 112 peer-reviewed publications and has been cited by over 2,500 researchers in cardiovascular pharmacology and aging biology.
